The image quality of good and this camera has a good update rate. I wish there were more webcams from this point. :-)

• Webcam Review: Elton John in Las Vegas at Caesars Palace playing "Crocodile Rock" at his "Million Dollar Piano" show. You are looking at an animation created from a series of camera stills. Video recording was prohibited but still photos were okayed by the performance management team. Note that you are looking at a large screen playing the camera video from parts of the performance hall. The stage and Elton are below the big screen and close to the heads in the images. • Webcam Review: This webcam has a fantastic view of Table Mountain. What a beautiful day. This camera is looking *south* ! Notice that the shadows behind the trees are on the south side of the trees in the southern hemisphere. The clouds are blowing north from Antarctica. Cape Town is the same distance from the equator as Atlanta Georgia. This points out 1)how very far *north* the continent of Africa is and 2)that there is a lot of water between the southern tip of Africa and Antarctica!! :-)

• Webcam Review: The webcam for this beach is excellent. It updates every few seconds, it is high quality, and it points in a direction that is minimally affected by light and shadows. This beach looks like an ideal escape and relaxation destination. Perhaps it us too much of a get-away! Regardless, it looks like a location for a great escape from winter. :-)

• Abraham Lincoln saluting at Gettysburg! The only animation of Abraham Lincoln at Gettysburg and possibly the first ever animation! There are only 3 known photographs of Lincoln at Gettysburg. Two of those photographs were only recently discovered by historian John Richter in 2007. (see New Lincoln Photos ). This animation is created from those two most-recently-discovered photos. • Mexico City, Mexico sits on top of landfill that sits on top of a lakebed. If you look at the satellite maps you will see that the city sits in a bowl surrounded by mountains. This webcam is of good quality, updates regularly and is reliably available during the day. It's too bad that the plaza looks like a parking lot but that's how it is. The primary negative to this webcam is that it does not operate during the night time. This too bad mostly because it means that early morning and early evening shots are lost. :-)

• Salvador do Bahia, Brazil is the third largest city in Brazil and once was it's capital. It is a large city with a significant African influence. Check out the wiki and investigate this city. With respect to the webcam, the main complaint is that it is wasting a view. While it looks at the Elevator, it misses the Bay! (see http://pt.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ficheiro:Elevador-Lacerda.jpg ) I will do a little more hunting and will post a CamAnimation of the bay at some point. :-)

• The history of Tel Aviv and the creation of White City with it's International Style architecture is not evident in this webcam shot. The scene looks like just a bunch of ordinary beach properties close to the Mediterranean. Too bad. This is a special location with plenty of history. (please read the wikipedia article). I love the high elevation of this webcam and the view to the Mediterranean Sea. Please take the time to look closely at the structures below. To appreciate this webcam and the views please visit at different times go the day as the sunlight angle changes. Two webcam requests: wider angle camera and a faster update rate. :-)

• Big Sur is a beautiful region between Monterey, CA and Los Angeles. This webcam is at the Nepenthe Restaurant on the Pacific Coast Highway. Nepenthe This area of California is surprisingly secluded considering that it is right on the coast of Central California. My main suggestion for this webcam is that more than one camera be installed at this location and that the update rate be increased to once every 15 seconds. :-)

• The University of Wisconsin- Madison has many beautiful places to walk and study. One of the most beautiful is the view of Lake Mendota from on top of Observatory Hill. This location is near most of the main campus buildings. The webcam view is great. My major criticism of this particular cam is that it is down from time to time. Also, it seems like a waste to only have one camera operating in only one orientation from this vantage point. Lastly, an HD webcam would be a nice upgrade here. Lake Mendota looks beautiful on this windy fall day (watch the trees sway). Notice that most of the leaves have fallen off of the trees. One week ago the leaves were on the trees but the high winds probably blew them away in the past week. :-)

• This is the afternoon view of the Acropolis and the Parthenon. Notice the flag of Greece waving on the summit. The Cradle of Civilization. This site has a great view of the Acropolis with a partial view of the Parthenon. There are other webcams with a better view of the Parthenon ( Parthenon Live ) but this webcam is just about the closest. My main criticism of this cam is that too much of the scene is taken up by the street view ( unless the purpose is to show how the Acropolis is right next to the homes of the common Athenian). On the other hand, it *is* interesting to see how something as important to Civilization as the Acropolis is just another park in an urban area on this planet. It also conveys to me that ancient Greeks were just like people today. (sort of) :-)
